Hi. I'm Charis and I'm so glad you're here.

I get it. Caregiving is the hardest job that you didn't exactly sign up for.

I created the Caregiver Collective as a refuge for those who are doing the tireless and often thankless work behind the scenes. For those that are giving everything to their loved one(s) and find it difficult to carve out time and space to care for themselves.

My Story

Over the past several years, while holding space for a spouse surviving stage IV cancer, I have come to know care-giving as a multi-layered, exhausting act with massive responsibility. It is a job that is often thankless, brutally filled with heartbreak and daily losses and most of the time, it is entirely invisible to the outside world.

Even those closest to you do not understand if they haven't been in a caregiving role. I have experienced first hand how the needs of the caregiver are often overlooked and the support resources are very limited.

It is my hope that this group will offer you support, shine the light on the invisible aspects of caregiving and create an uplifting community that anchors you when you feel entirely alone, isolated and steeped in the grief and heartbreak that comes with caring for a chronically ill loved one.

My Background

As your facilitator, I bring many years of professional experience alongside my personal caregiving journey. I hold a board certification as a traditional Naturopathic Doctor and have partnered with many clients over the years to help them restore their health.

In my life before, I taught yoga and natural health classes and loved working with parents and children at the Detroit Waldorf School.

Remember, just reaching out for support is an act of self-care. I look forward to hearing from you and witnessing the heavy load you are carrying.
